Please understand this list is for your information only. All breeders are PRTAA members and are required to follow PRTAA guidelines but the PRTAA is not responsible. If these breeders do not follow through it will be frowned upon. While we cannot be responsible for individual breeders, we advise all buyers to have:
Please be aware that there are several health tests that are recommended for the Parson Russell Terrier. They include LOA (late onset ataxia), PLL (primary lens luxation), Baer (hearing), Cerf testing yearly (eyes), and SCA (spinocerebella ataxia), but it is up to you to verify that these tests have been completed. Tests may be submitted to the Canine Health Information Center (CHIC). Those results can be located on the CHIC website @
http://www.caninehealthinfo.org.
Breeders may be testing and choose not to submit results or receive a CHIC number. You as the buyer should feel free to request copies of test results on the puppy's sire/dam. As to the PLL testing be aware that any dog/bitch that is tested, and tests are clear, are automatically listed as clear in the OFA database. Breeders do have the choice to not have carriers or affected dogs listed. You can follow this link
http://www.ofa.org
to the OFA database where you can locate results based on the name of the dog/bitch.
Please note the asterisks (**) denote breeders who are CHIC participants. Having a CHIC number does not mean the dog/bitch is clear in all tests.
This symbol indicates that the breeder is also recognized by the AKC as a
Breeder of Merit.
