A Pennsylvania Rescue Story

Hi Lee,
It has been almost a year since Sadie came to live with us. She had a rough time trusting us but immediately became friends with our old cat and older mixed breed dog. Her previous treatment by humans and men in particular became obvious, it was 6 months before she would let my husband take her outside; even longer for my sons.

I am thrilled to report, she is becoming a great dog. She sleeps with us (at my husband's suggestion - "She seems so scared of everything, maybe she would like me better if she slept with us.") She is walking very well on the leash. She loves to play fetch with my 18 year old son, Tim, and every night she watches for him to come home from work. She follows me everywhere and is my most devoted companion. It made me very proud when our vet told me "You have done a wonderful job with this dog."

While rescue is not for everyone, the love and devotion we have received was worth all the work. It took patience and alot of time to gain Sadie's trust and to start to do very basic training. But in the end I know she is grateful we chose to adopt an older dog.

Sincerely,
Jill Fleske
Slippery Rock, PA
